WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
From foundations to reliable behaviour
The six-week course develops the practical skills needed for a well-controlled dog while helping you become a more confident and effective handler.
Training covers a broad range of practical obedience and handling skills and incorporates the training needed for the Royal Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Training Scheme Bronze Award, with the option to work towards the award.
Training includes:
- Walking calmly on a loose lead
- Remaining controlled when passing through a door or gate
- Walking calmly among people, dogs and distractions
- Staying in position on the lead for one minute
- Returning to the handler when called
- Accepting grooming and routine physical examination
The aim is not competition-style obedience. It is to develop a happy, well-controlled dog and practical skills that you can use in everyday situations.

Choose the course start date and weekly session time that suits you. The course will run at the same time each week for six weeks, excluding bank holiday weekends.

Notes:
Once we receive your registration, we may invite new clients to a face-to-face meeting to discuss their training requirements, assess their dog’s needs and confirm that the course is suitable before confirming their place.
Any dog attending a training session must be fully vaccinated and in good health. Handlers should bring lots of their dog’s small favourite treats with them. When attending courses please park in front of the hay barn. Do not drive or park on the grass within the farm limits.
