OUR APPROACH
Practical training built around you and your dog
At K9 Training Academy, we recognise that every dog and handler is different. Our training is flexible and practical, taking into account your experience, your dog’s individual needs and what you want to achieve together.
Our trainers bring extensive experience gained through military, law enforcement and civilian dog training, alongside recognised qualifications. This breadth of knowledge enables us to work with both pet and working dogs and with handlers ranging from complete beginners to those with considerable experience.
We aim to make training clear, achievable and relevant to everyday life, adapting our approach where necessary to suit individual learning needs.
BEFORE TRAINING
Getting to know you and your dog
We believe good training starts with understanding what you need rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
For new clients, we may recommend a face-to-face meeting before training begins. This gives us an opportunity to discuss your goals, learn more about your dog and assess their individual training needs before recommending the most appropriate course or type of training.
This is particularly useful where there are specific behavioural concerns, more complex training requirements or where you are unsure which of our training options would be most suitable.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Professional knowledge with practical experience
Our trainers are qualified through a combination of military, law enforcement and civilian dog training and have extensive practical experience working with dogs and handlers in a wide range of situations.
That experience allows us to offer structured training while remaining flexible in the way it is delivered. Whether you are developing the foundations with a family dog, progressing to more advanced skills or working towards specific goals with a working dog, training can be adapted to suit.

Training and behavioural support when you need something more individual
Alongside our group dog training courses, K9 Training Academy provides one-to-one training for owners and handlers who would benefit from a more individual approach.
We also offer behavioural assessment and modification advice, helping owners understand specific behavioural issues and develop a structured plan for addressing them.
This gives clients the option of progressing through our group courses, working with us individually, or combining different types of training where appropriate.
